UN FILM is a creative unit formed by two filmmakers. Our base of operations spans Tokyo and Imabari in Ehime Prefecture. Though this project has only just begun, we each bring rich experiences, established careers, and a certain level of resources to the table. Our capabilities may be limited, but they are surely broader than you might imagine.
We are deeply fascinated by the connection between “place” and “memory.” To us, the past and the present are not separate entities. We believe the past is always intertwined with the present. Our philosophy and poetics lie in portraying this coexistence—showing how the past and present emerge together.
Our primary focus is on documentaries, though we’re not confined to that genre alone. The only criterion for selecting our themes is whether they hold value as a film.
We do not adhere to rigid ideologies or political doctrines. Instead, we pursue expressions that are free, expansive, and full of possibilities.
